Annual Water/Street Project - Munson and Christian Street

The City of Rehoboth Beach has been replacing the water main and some associated piping on Munson Street between Bayard Avenue and Scarborough Avenue, and on Christian Street repaving and replacing water service lines to meter pits. With completion of the water main work, the city’s contractor is resurfacing that block of Munson Street as well as Christian Street. This work is part of the city’s annual Capital Improvement Plan and is part of the fiscal year 2026 budget.

Key updates for Munson Street construction:

  • On Monday 11/10, milling of the pavement will occur on Munson. This removes 2” inches of the pavement in preparation for the “overlay.” This process is loud, does create dust and will take the full work day. On Tuesday paving will occur. This will also take a full day, and is also loud. Before the paving, street sweepers will go over the milled surface. The work could go past 5PM – once started, the contractor needs to finish.
  • The same will occur on Christian Street, but will take 3 days – Wednesday, Thursday and Friday.
  • Line striping should occur Monday and Tuesday of the following week on both streets, followed by utility adjustments and punch list work. All work is weather dependent and the schedule subject to change.

Thank you to the residents and businesses on Munson and Christian Streets for their patience during the watermain, concrete work, and re-paving.

*dates depend on weather conditions and are subject to change
